Installation

Rivo on your own server

The installer sets up everything itself: Docker, Postgres, the app and a web server with automatic HTTPS. You bring a server, a domain and one command.

curl -fsSL https://me.rivo.day/install.sh | sudo bash -s -- --domain rivo.example.com --email [email protected]

Use your own domain and email (the email is needed to issue the certificate). Re-running is safe: existing secrets, settings and data are not overwritten.

What you need beforehand

Server

Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, 1 GB of RAM or more (2 GB recommended), 20 GB of free space (5 GB minimum), root or sudo. Any VPS will do.

Domain

Your domain’s A record must point to the server IP before you start the installation — otherwise the certificate will not be issued and you will have to run it again.

Steps

Four steps to a working instance

01

Prepare the domain

Point the A record to the server and wait for it to propagate.

02

Run the command

The installer checks the server, installs Docker, generates secrets and brings up the stack. It usually takes a few minutes.

03

Complete onboarding

Follow the printed link to create the owner, choose a currency and time zone, and optionally connect Telegram and Google.

04

Enter the key

Get the license key in your customer account. The instance links to it automatically and then confirms the license once a day.

Next

Updates, backups, restore

The installer adds the rivo command — it runs the instance from then on. An update makes a backup before changing anything.

rivo statuscontainer status, domain, version, last backup
rivo logs api -fservice logs (api, web, db, caddy), -f to follow
rivo updateupdate to a new version: backup, images, migrations, restart
rivo backupback up the database and files
rivo restorerestore from an archive
rivo restartrestart the stack
